Thomas Kelly Cabinetmaker makes an exceptional collection of contemporary
furniture based on traditional and modern design; he has successfully
combined the wonderful hand-made qualities of a bygone era with the technology
now available to make beautiful furniture, which will add character to
either an existing or new setting.
Thomas comes from a farming family on the sweeping coastline of County
Wexford, His Father was passionately interested in woodworking and has
passed this on to Thomas who qualified as a Carpenter and Joiner in 1980,
he then worked in a local joinery for three years.
Thomas travelled to Libya, Australia, Portugal, London and America, widening
his horizons and viewing Cabinet making on international scale.
He returned home to Ireland, set up his own company in 1991, and built
his workshop at Poulfur. As the company developed he extended his workshop
in 1997 and 2000 because of the increased demand for his designing and
cabinet making skills.
His Partner Carmel joined the business in the early nineties they work
as a team with Carmel managing sales and finance. They employ four people
full time with three in the furniture building and one in administration.
The success of his furniture business has been due to an uncompromising
approach towards the quality of the building and finish, making each piece
a pleasure for him and his team to build and for the customer to own.
